DRS has been a national industry leader in the development and implementation of Medicare DSH. DRS's staff has been instrumental in the design, development, and testing of current HIPAA compliant Medicaid eligibility verification systems (270/271) in multiple States. Although not a 270/271 exchange, DRS was actively involved in the design and testing of the Louisiana (LAMMIS) and Washington eligibility programs that are currently in use. This knowledge and experience has helped DRS to assist well over one hundred hospitals in receiving the maximum DSH payments allowable through current CMS regulations. DRS has also been the analytical lead in several highly successful DSH related group appeals encompassing hundreds of fiscal years. These group appeals have resulted in over $100 million in additional reimbursement for our clients.

DRS has substantial experience in Medicare Bad Debt having been involved with this area of payment dating back to 1989. In the 1990's DRS staff led several Statewide Medicaid recovery efforts for many healthcare providers in the States of Minnesota, Washington, and California. We managed a project that resulted in the recovery of approximately $30 million for Minnesota hospitals. DRS staff also initiated and managed a project that became South Sound Radiologists, Inc. et al., v. Lyle Quasim, et al. (W.D. Wash. 1997). The financial results of the project involved a $24 million settlement paid to plaintiffs. Additionally, we initiated and managed a project that became Dameron Physicians Medical Group, Inc. v. Shalala (N.D. Cal. 1997) involving approximately $100 million in Medicaid claims.

DRS is also involved in Child Support consulting, focused primarily on the intersection of Child Support and Medicaid programs. We are a member of the National Child Support Enforcement Association (NCSEA) and have participated in the development and passage of several new Child Support statutes in the State of Minnesota. A member of our staff served on the Minnesota Child Support Work Group, having been appointed to that position by the Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS). We actively pursued a Child Support/Medicaid initiative for the state of Michigan, having already assisted in obtaining more than $9 million in Federal Funds for Michigan counties. DRS is also working on a Child Support/Medicaid project with the Oklahoma District Attorney's Council (DAC).

We have provided our services to large and prestigious physician groups as well as small bed facilities in the States of California and Washington.
